Eric Weldele

PARTNER

Eric Weldele is a partner of Capitol Partners. Eric brings more than 20 years serving as a lobbyist, strategic consultant and attorney.  Eric has experience working in both public and private sectors, and working with all sizes of organizations.  Eric has subject matter expertise in utilities and a variety of other industries.

 

Eric's experience in governmental affairs, utilities and other industries has helped organizations such as AES US, Verizon, Facebook, Amazon, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio,  Dayton Power and Light, and Gas Natural, among many others.  His primary focus is to mitigate risk exposure and optimize the advocacy within organizations that he represents.  He is considered one of the foremost experts in influencing change and expanding legislation within utility regulation, marijuana usage,  political campaign strategy, collection administration, and state, local and federal policy.

Prior to serving as a partner of Capitol Partners, Eric was the Chief of Staff of the Ohio Public Utilities Commission and on the Executive Committee of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissions.  He also served within the Government Affairs and Utility Practice of Tucker, Ellis & West, LLP. He and as the the Director of Special Counsel for Attorney General Jim Petro. Prior to that role, Eric served as Director of Government Affairs for Capitol Consulting Group and served in the Administrations of Governors Voinovich and Taft, as well as supported the campaigns of many successful politicians including George W. Bush and Mike Dewine.

 

Eric holds a law degree from Capital University Law School and an economics degree from Ohio Wesleyan University.  Eric has volunteered and served on the board for his fraternity for the past 19 years, and  has run several half-ironman marathons, specifically focused on raising money for Cerebral Palsy and cancer research. He lives in Columbus with his fiance, Julie, two children and their dogs.
